The Senate approved the P45.07-billion Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 Budget of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) under the National Expenditure Program (NEP) during the plenary deliberations on November 26, 2025 at the Senate of the Philippines, Pasay City.
The budget was successfully defended and sponsored by Senator Kiko Pangilinan, together with NIA Administrator Engr. Eddie G. Guillen, underscoring the Administration’s crucial role in strengthening the country’s food security, improving and expanding irrigation services, and empowering Filipino farmers.
The approved budget reaffirms the government’s commitment to expanding, restoring, and rehabilitating irrigation systems nationwide, ensuring that farmers receive timely and reliable irrigation services for agricultural productivity. It will support NIA’s ongoing and programmed projects focused on modernizing irrigation infrastructure, enhancing climate-resilient systems, and promoting more efficient water management.
Administrator Guillen expressed his gratitude to all members of the Senate for their continued trust and support to the Filipino farmers. He also emphasized that the budget will strengthen the Agency’s contribution to the food security thrust of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.
“Ang pag-apruba sa ating 2026 budget ay patunay ng bayanihan ng Senado at ng NIA upang matiyak na ang ating mga bagong bayaning magsasaka ay may sapat na irigasyon. Lubos po kaming nagpapasalamat sa Senado at kay Senator Kiko Pangilinan sa kanilang hindi matatawarang suporta sa sektor ng irigasyon at agrikultura.”
With the 2026 budget now approved at the Senate level, NIA assures the public and its stakeholders that it will continue to maximize resources, implement projects efficiently, and uphold transparency and accountability towards irrigation service excellence.
