Two weeks after the Luzonwide lockdown due to the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) created a Task Force for the management of Covid-19 within its ranks. The intention of the Task Force is to immediately respond to the needed medical attention of NIA personnel, and ultimately to prevent, contain and mitigate transmission of the virus within the NIA Central Office.
Composing the Task Force are several task groups with specific duties and responsibilities as follows: 1) an Oversight Group, headed by the NIA Administrator, with the three other Top Management Officials and the Manager of the Administrative Department as members; 2) a Task Group on Response Operations , chaired by the Agency Medical Doctor and with members composed of personnel who are graduates of nursing profession and other allied medical profession and members of the General Services Division; 3) a Task Group on Resource Management and Logistics composed of personnel from the Procurement and Property Division and the General Services Division; 4) a Task Group on Security Measures composed of the Civil Security group of the Agency; and 5) a Task Group on Strategic Communications composed of personnel from the Administrative Department, Management Information Division and the Public Affairs and Information Staff.
Two NIA Service vehicles had been assigned for this purpose: one is designated to serve as a NIA Ambulance vehicle and a van to serve as a medical COVID-19 Vehicle.
Forward looking, the NIA Central Office dormitory has been identified to serve as an isolation building to house NIA Personnel identified as ‘SUSPECT’, ‘PROBABLE’ and ‘CONFIRMED’ COVID-19 Cases for assistance and monitoring.
Hotline numbers for NIA Covid-19 have also been assigned which are manned by the Task Group on Response Operations:
