NIA Central Office, Quezon City - In line with NIA Administrator Dr. Florencio F. Padernal drives to accelerate the on-going construction of various irrigation projects all throughout the country; NIA Administrator Dr. Florencio F. Padernal personally visited various irrigation projects one of which is the Upper Tabuating Small Reservoir Irrigation Project (UT-SRIP) in Nueva Ecija on March 3, 2016.
UT-SRIP is said to potentially irrigate at least 700 hectares benefiting at least 350 farmers in barangays of Nazareth,Bago, Rio Chico of General Tinio, and Brgy. San Mariano of Peñaranda Nueva Ecija. The dam structure will be a 25.56-meters- high and 750 meters long. Its reservoir is projected to have a maximum elevation of 107.50 meters and a storage capacity of 4.96 million cubic meters. |
NIA Clarifies Fee CollectionTuesday, January 26, 2016 - 09:45 NIA Central Office, Quezon City - National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Administrator Dr. Florencio F. Padernal clarifies issues concerning its Irrigation Service Fee (ISF) collection from our farmers who are using irrigation facilities. The National Irrigation Administration is authorized to charge ISF from the beneficiaries in national systems as payment for the services rendered in the delivery of water. It is pursuant to Republic Act 3601, Section 2, Paragraph C citing that NIA has the authority to collect from the users of each irrigation system constructed by it such fees as may be necessary to finance the continuous operation of the system. This authority was strengthened by PD 552 and 1701. NIA is a Government-owned and Controlled Corporation primarily responsible for irrigation development and management of completed irrigation systems in the country, and as such, the agency has to address its operational expenses through internally generated funds from various sources primarily from Irrigation Service Fee. This will ensure operability of irrigation systems that would provide irrigation services to farmers. Currently, NIA is collecting ISF with the following rates; |
NIA, Tesda Offer Skills Training for JALAUR IPsThursday, November 5, 2015 - 16:00 Calinog, Iloilo - Members of the Indigenous Peoples (IPs) here covered by the Jalaur River Multi-Purpose Project Stage II (JRMP II) availed skills training offered by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). Dubbed Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP), it is an entitlement for the affected families ensured through strong partnership with TESDA. One member of each Directly Affected Project Affected Family (PAF) can avail of this training for free to equip them with necessary skills that will qualify them for work during project construction. Courses offered include Masonry, Carpentry, Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW NC I) and Heavy Equipment Operation. "The courses you will avail will not only prepare you for employment during JRMP II construction but it will prepare you for bigger opportunities after Jalaur. Ayaw naming na hanggang laborers lang kayo" said JRMP II Concurrent Project Manager Engr.Gerardo P. Corsiga. He further stressed that the training is just the start of the delivery of all JRMP II commitments to the affected IPs. After the training completion, NIA will assist the beneficiaries in availing assessments for them to earn a National Certificate (NC). An NC is a major requirement in many construction firms here and abroad for hiring of skilled personnel. |
